Presentation of the Student Fellow Project

The Project

Supported by a grant from the Hewlett foundation, UNOE created a student fellowship  program.

This ‘ student fellowship’ aims to build a global community of students from different countries where our Chairs are based to engage in discussions and propose imaginaries related to the future of advanced technologies in education and the role of “open” in higher education.

Students receive small stipends for participation. The aim is to enable student voices and also to explore the role that open education principles and frameworks can play as a means to understand the role of AI and advanced technologies in Higher Education.

The project includes participation from 9 countries and includes 26 student fellows and 7 home languages: Spanish, Portuguese, English, isiZulu, French, Slovenian and Arabic.

Themes students are addressing include; perspectives on assessment and the integration of open education, AI accessibility and inequality and the role of open education, innovating education with AI and OER, creating sustainable culture of openness in universities and the analysis of university AI and open education policies and practices
